African Duffle Bag
A multipurpose and vibrant African duffle bag that has been handcrafted in Africa by empowered mothers through Hope Designers, the tailoring programme supported by Kar Geno.
A versatile duffle bag
This versatile barrel shaped duffle bag is a nice alternative to a backpack, and is designed to fit as much as you can comfortably carry. Perfect to travel with around town, to go to the gym or yoga, or any outdoor activities, it is also a great choice for overnight trips or a short weekend break, and can even be taken onto the plane as a small carry-on luggage. Its roomy compartment makes it easy to hold all your essentials. Thanks to its two large shoulder straps and its lightweight quality, the bag is very comfortable to handle. This one-of-a-kind carryall closes with a convenient zipper to keep your belongings safe, and meets international standards and market demands.
Handcrafted in Africa
The bag has been handmade in Mabinju. This small village is situated in the Asembo region in the North-West part of Kenya, at an hour’s drive West of Kisumu, the third largest city in the country. The distinctive garment that the bag features is known as “Kitenge”, a thick cloth sold on busy local markets in Africa and commonly used by women, around the body, over the head, or as a material for dresses. The fabric is also sometimes worn by African men around the waist, especially during hot weather. Some of the countries where Kitenge is popular are Uganda, Tanzania, Sudan, and of course Kenya.
